March – In Our Birthday Era

March is a busy, busy month! My birthday kicks the month off, then my husband’s in the middle, and to send the month off with a bang, Harlow’s birthday. This year her party theme was Taylor Swift, and, oh, my… it was fabulous. First, we decided to recreate an album cover to use on her “ticket” invitation. That snowballed into recreating ALL the original Taylor Swift album covers and that was a blast.

Apparently I skipped Folklore, which I thought was the same album as Evermore, but… eh… we were close.

The party was so much fun. Most of the girls were able to attend and I think everyone had a great time! I had fun with the decorations. Gift bags included a personalized cup (also nice to cut down on disposable cups), bejeweled cat ears, red heart sunglasses, vinyl stickers, red lipstick, and a copy of the scavenger hunt we did at the party so the girls could do one in their own neighborhoods if they wanted to.

Decorations were so fun to make. I did a giant friendship bracelet banner, added lips to the red tablecloth, had a fun photo backdrop, and even a red carpet complete with paparazzi. I hung the album covers around the house, and even had a disco ball over the kitchen table. So. Much. Fun.

As for games and activities, the girls made friendship bracelets, had some fun with the photo booth area, did a neighborhood scavenger hunt, tried to figure out Taylor Swift songs with the emoji game, did some karaoke, gave each other “tattoos”, and “pinned the lips” on Taylor. There was a lot of just playing, too… hide and seek, balloon volleyball, you name it. Mixed in there they snacked and had birthday donuts. Everyone thought I was crazy to have a 5 hour party, but it FLEW by.

After the sleepover friends left in the morning, we prepped friendship bracelet brownie cupcakes to keep the theme going for her school birthday treat. And just like that, my baby is 11.

“I’ve had the best day with you today.” ~ Taylor Swift
